What We Sharpen – Machetes

Machetes, Cane Machetes, or Cane Knives

Are thick bladed knives made from a very hard steel.  In most cases the steel is 1/8″ or thicker in width to give the machete the capability to cut into woody plants and vines for cleaning up your property.

Like all Thick Bladed knives, we first need to clean the rust and any other gunk off the edge portion of the blade to ensure that we do not ruin our grinding wheels that we use to sharpen blades.

After that, we start with a 100 grit wheel to put a new edge on the knife quickly,  and then move to a 220 grit wheel to hone and polish the edge so that it cuts more cleanly and efficiently than the more coarse grinding of the 100 grit wheel.
