Sharpening Info – Fabric Shears, Pinking Shears, Paper, and General Utility Scissors

We sharpen our Fabric Shears, Pinking Shears, Paper Scissors, and General Utility Scissors to be extremely sharp!!!

We use a very similar process for sharpening these scissors and shears as we use on our Barber and Stylist shears.

Our sharpness testing has 3 components of the same test as we use on Barber and Stylist shears:

• We test initial cutting on 1 sheet of Viva Paper towels.  We use Viva because it has the lowest wood fiber content of all paper towels which means we can test for sharpness without any fear of dulling the new edge.
• The 2nd test is to cut a Kleenex tissue cleanly and with no pulls.
• The final test for these scissors and shears is to separate the two ply of the Kleenex and take just a single ply and cut it to ensure the scissors and shears cut cleanly and smoothly with no pulls.

All scissors and shears in this category must pass these 3 tests to be considered sharp enough to return to customers.
